La Sagrada Familia, de Pieter Coecke van Aelst, Museo de la Casa Nacional de Moneda de Potosí

The following paper describes the features and the conservation and restoration treatments developed in an American viceregal painting . It is an oil on wood that was painted by the flemish artist Pieter Coecke van Aelst, who was active during the second third of the 16th Century. The art work is an example of a particular case, given that it shows some peculiar characteristics in relation to others of its type. This is the third in a series published by the author in the same journal, referring on treatments applied to different paintings on wood from the second half of the XVI century . The first two cases were: The Madonna with the little bird, by Bitti, Conserva n. 5, and The Yavi Madonna, anonymous, Conserva n. 7 Due to carelessness and mistreatment, the art work was burnt and had lost part of the frame and the side panels of the triptych. Later it was cut and the painting layer was skinned as a result of an inappropriate cleaning treatment.
